Udayachal means 'Eastern Mountain' - the mountain from where the sun, the moon and the myriad stars rise into the vast expanse of the sky. The 'Eastern Mountain' truly symbolizes the schools' ideal :- to help students from even the humblest origins to rise to the zenith of a rich and righteous life! Decades later this dream has turned into a reality.

Udayachal is a mini India. Children come from atleast seven different religious backgrounds and as many mother tongues. It is a multilingual, multi-cultural environment where they all feel important and we work hard to build it into a harmonious whole.

Our motto is 'Tamaso-ma Jyotirgamaya', which means 'from darkness to light'. Thus Udayachal Schools strive to bring light to each child and make his life worthwhile.

The schools focus on all-round development of the child catering to their physical, socio-emotional, creative intellectual as well as spiritual growth. Therefore our curriculum also includes subjects like art, craft, ceramics, music and sports all of which are given equal importance. Individual talents bloom and are greatly encouraged.

The subjects in the curriculum are interwoven whereby nothing is at the cost of anything else. It is a child-centered programme based on the developmental needs of each stage of development.

The teachers use umpteen ways of making learning interesting as well as relevant to the life of every child. Children are thus self-motivated to learn. Great stress is laid on total personality development. Everyday, morning prayers are value-based, making the children aware of what they need to be thankful for to God.

Love for each other, love for humanity and every living creature, preservation and conservation of nature are some of the themes of the prayer programmes emphasized through skits, poems, stories and through enacting the lives of great individuals. So it even led to a full-fledged project on values in 1998.

The Godrej culture of being punctual, honest, responsible, patriotic and dedicated is imbibed by everyone in several ways.
