Evaluation means to ascertain or set the value of, to judge or assess the worth of. This is exactly what is done year in and year out. The school's quality of education and progress is ascertained and that's how we have progressed keeping our goal of QUALITY EDUCATION in mind.

Whenever we were faced with problems like children who could not read or spell, concepts which had not been understood, etc. we worked on the maxim which says 'flexibility means being able to turn problems into challenges'. Automatically we searched for solutions and found alternatives to what we were doing. The problem lessened, new methods evolved and new techniques took place.

The framework that has gone into this revolutionary teaching-learning evaluation process has not been an overnight process. It has been carefully been developed over the years by the staff, who believe that learning should be joyful, and learning means knowing how to learn.

We do not believe in rote-learning. Our evaluation includes questions which are application oriented to enhance thinking. e.g. Finding similarities and differences, finding answers to why something happens, both of which give scope for analytical as well as divergent thinking. There may not be any straight answers, there could be several different correct answers. This gives scope for each individual to use his intelligence and give explanation to the question.

Taking in view each child's capacity to answer, we do not have fixed timings for completing a paper. 'Think time' is given so that each one can answer at their pace. Again keeping individuality in mind, weightage is given to the oral as well as the written areas.

At Udayachal, evaluation is taken very seriously as it is one step to retrospect and and progress further. We look at each subject minutely, breaking it up in its various components so that due justice is given to each of the major aspects. Individual strengths and weakness in particular areas can thus be diagnosed and dealt with.

Evaluation to us is not a one time pre-determined schedule that is followed. It is an on-going, continuous observation of the pupil by the teacher in all his developmental areas giving a clear picture of his ability and capability which again is a clue where help would be needed
